Good Morning Church Family!

Dear Northwood Berkeley Saints,

I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving Day celebrations with your family and friends.  The Bible talks a lot about being thankful.  Consider the following verses…

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18  Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 103:1-4  Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name. Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all His benefits — who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion.

Isaiah 12:4-5  And on that day you will say, “Give thanks to the LORD, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; make them remember that His name is exalted.” Praise the LORD in song, for He has done glorious things; let this be known throughout the earth.

James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

1 Chronicles 16:34  Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever!

Philippians 4:4-7 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

The old Gospel song "Count Your Blessings" reminds us...

1 When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,

When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, ev’ry doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by. [Refrain]
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings, money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high. [Refrain]
Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end. [Refrain]

Refrain:

2 Are you ever burdened with a load of care?

3 When you look at others with their lands and gold,

4 So, amid the conflict, whether great or small,

Looking back, I would like to thank everyone who made last week’s ordination service possible.  The refreshments were great, the ordination committee asked a tough congregation, and the congregation showed up to support Dave, Kyle, and Alex as they were ordained to the Gospel ministry.   I’m excited about what God is doing at Northwood Berkeley.

Looking ahead:  Join us for Life Connection Group at 9:30 a.m. and worship at 11:00 a.m.  We will be covering Romans 4, and the title of this Sunday’s Message is “Faith Alone.”  This Sunday morning, we will have an opportunity to affirm our proposed 2026 church spending.  On Sunday Night, we will join the Northwood Family of Churches at Northwood Greenridge for the Lowcountry Christmas Tree Lighting🎄 at 5:00 p.m.  We will not have any of our normal Sunday evening activities that usually take place on the NBC Berkeley campus.

On Tuesday, December 2 (6PM-8:30PM), 9, 16, and 23, our Ladies will have an Advent Bible Study and Fellowship that takes place from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

For the month of December, our Great Commission Prayer meeting will take place on December 3, 10, and 17 at 6:00 p.m.

Join us for our Christmas Eve Service at 5:00 p.m.

I’m thankful to be your pastor.

Grace to you,
Pastor Jay
