Good Morning Church Family!

Northwood Berkeley Saints,

I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I want to thank Ifford, Marie, Dennis, Beau and all those that worked so hard to make sure that our New Year’s Bonfire went well. What a fun evening!! Not only did we have many from our church family join the fun, but we were able to feed one family in need, provide an entertaining evening to a family with a household of nine children, and made contact with a family from India who owns a couple of local liquor stores who heard about the Bonfire. The father of this family was intrigued about learning about Christianity and exposing his children to a positive environment. I want to thank the Whiteville Fire Marshall for taking the time to meet with Ifford in advance and for coming out that evening to check on fire safety.

Now to him who is able to far more abundantly than all we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever Amen. – Ephesians 3:20-21.

Both Bryson and I mentioned last Sunday that our congregation’s prayer for this year is to pray Ephesians 3:20-21 every day for our congregation and for all the Northwood Family of Churches. Every day of 2026 let’s continue to pray that God will do far more abundantly beyond all we could ask or think or imagine in the Northwood Family of Churches. Let’s pray that God will move in such a powerful way that only He could get the glory and credit.

This Sunday please join us for Life Connection Group at 9:30 a.m. and Worship at 11:00 a.m. This Sunday’s message is entitled, “Christ, The Great Liberator: Bringing Freedom in Frustration” from Romans 7:1-25. This Sunday we will also celebrate and observe the Lord’s Supper.

This Sunday Night, January 4, please join us for our Quarterly Northwood Family of Church Prayer Night. This quarter’s meeting will be hosted by Northwood Greenridge at 2200 Greenridge Road, North Charleston at 5:00 p.m. Please make it a priority to attend. You will hear exciting stories of what God is doing in Northwood Family of Churches and will be presented with prayer requests. We will have a chance to pray with other believers in sister churches. Every prayer night is a blessing!

After meeting with the staff, pastors and many of their spouses we have made the prayerful decision to launch Wednesday Night ministries at Northwood Berkeley. Starting this Wednesday, January 7, we will meet from 6:30-7:45 p.m. for a Midweek pick me up. There will be something for all ages. Adults will gather in the worship center for Pastor’s Bible Study and Great Commission Prayer Time. We will be studying the Gospel of John and will be given the opportunity to learn about exciting prayer opportunities from around the world. Children will meet for Kingdom Kids in Fellowship Hall in Gethsemane Building. The Crave Student Ministry will meet in the Gethsemane Chapel.

What about Adult Discipleship? Great question. Since we still need to finish New Testament Survey Equip classes, we will finish those at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday Nights starting January 11th. We will take a couple of months to finish those classes on Sunday nights (Please note there will be no nursery). After that we want to funnel all of our Discipleship to Home Groups. (Although in the future we may offer a short term Equip class on a Wednesday Night). We currently have two Home Groups and are looking to expand. Home Groups will meet every other week to learn, pray, fellowship, and serve together. Please prayerfully consider signing up for a Home Group this week. We will see who all signs up and go forward into organizing these groups. If you are interested in teaching or hosting a home group, please reach to me or Pastor Kyle.

On Sunday, January 11th we will have a churchwide potluck after worship on Sunday Morning. Following the Potluck, we will have a Connect to Northwood Class for those who are interested in finding out more about our church and church membership.

See you Sunday!

Grace to you,
Pastor Jay
