Good Morning Church Family!

Hello NBC Berkeley!

Linda and I had a great vacation.  It was nice getting away.  I was able to read three books on the beach and Linda finished three books as well.  I appreciate Pastor Jim filling the pulpit on Sunday and preaching an excellent message from Proverbs. I also am grateful to Dawn Packwood for helping lead the children and to Josh Hayes for leading in worship.  It’s not often that three staff members are gone on the same Sunday but last Sunday it happened.  I’m grateful for those who can step up and continue the ministry.  One of the books I read was Mark Hallock’s book, God’s Not Done with Your Church: Finding Hope and New Life through Replanting. As a replanted church, we finished our history as Gethsemane Baptist on April 7 and began a new chapter as Northwood Baptist Berkeley that same day.  We are rooted in the history and legacy of the past but are pushing forward as a new congregation. While we will always cherish much of the past, we look forward to an exciting new future. In his book, Pastor Mark lists twelve ways we can pray for our newly replanted church

  1. Pray for our congregation and our leaders that we will all keep our eyes on God and not take a step apart from God’s leading.
  2. Pray for courage and boldness to go where God leads.
  3. Pray for humility before the Lord and people, prioritizing raising up other leaders.
  4. Pray for our church and her leaders that we will not rely on our own strength, but trust in the Lord’s strength.
  5. Pray for a deep heart of love for the leaders of our newly replanted church.
  6. Pray for the health of marriages and families in the congregation.
  7. Pray that our congregation and its leaders will walk worthy of the calling God has placed on our lives.
  8. Pray for our leaders to preach the Word and the gospel boldly.
  9. Pray for God to destroy idols in the hearts of our staff and those in the hearts of the congregation.
  10. Pray for God-honoring unity in the congregation.
  11. Pray that our congregation will do whatever it takes to reach the lost.
  12. Pray for the making of disciples in and through our newly replanted church.
India Missions Trip

Tonight, Bel Hardy from Northwood Baptist Greenridge will share about a recent mission trip she took to India. Join us for the Great Commission Prayer Meeting at 6:00 p.m.

This coming Sunday we will be praying for and commissioning me, Josh White, and Dana Bowers for our upcoming mission Trip to Huntington, West Virginia.

This Sunday morning, we will also be praying for and commissioning Andrew, Emily, and John Lockridge to serve Christ in Virginia. We hate to see this family move on, but we want to pray for them as they move back home to Virginia. We expect all people to join a solid biblically based church when they leave Northwood Berkeley.

This Sunday morning, we will be witnessing two baptisms! Praise God that He is changing lives. We are grateful that Christ has saved two people and that they are willing to give public testimony that they are Christ followers.

Baptism

This Sunday morning, we have both Life Connection Group at 9:30 a.m. and worship at 11:00 a.m. but we will have no Sunday evening activities due to Father’s Day.

On Sunday evening, June 30th we will gather on the lawn at Northwood Baptist Greenridge for the best fireworks show in Lowcountry.
