Good Morning Church Family!

Dear Church Family,

May is always a busy month! School is ending, vacation plans are being finalized, the pools and beaches are getting crowded, and the weather is getting hotter!  Even though we are all busy I want to encourage you to take a step back and remember Who is important and what is important.  Psalm 46:10 gives us a great invitation.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
   I will be exalted among the nations,
   I will be exalted in the earth.”

In the New Testament, Jesus gives us another invitation we would be wise to respond to, Matthew 11:28-30 record this invitation from Christ.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Whatever you do this summer, I hope you take the time to be still, focus on God, and find rest for your soul in Christ.

Here are some reminders for our congregation.

  • This Sunday, we have a Covered Dish Luncheon after our 11:00 a.m. worship service.  We want each family to bring a main dish.

  • We will also have a Connect to Northwood Berkeley class this Sunday after we eat. If you would like to find out about our congregation and church membership, please let me know that you would like to come.

  • Since kids get bored in the summer, we plan on going full speed ahead with Midweek at Berkeley.  It is crucial that our children continue to meet for Kingdom Kids, that our students meet for Crave, and our adults continue to pray.   See you every Wednesday Night at 6:30 p.m.

  • Speaking of summer please pray for our Vacation Bible School that is taking place in July.  Pray for Ed, our workers, and the children that will come and hear about Jesus.

  • We have eleven people from our congregation joining the Northwood Family of Churches for a Mission Trip to Huntington, West Virginia from Jun 22-26.  I know everyone can’t go on a mission trip. Everyone can participate in this mission trip through your prayers.  Would you commit to start praying everyday for this mission trip?

  • On June 6 at 9:00 a.m. a young lady that has started attending our church needs our help. She is moving from her home near Greenridge Road into her new home in Goose Creek.  This young lady will have her dad and uncle present but it sure would be special if we could get some helping hands to make the process go quicker.  If you would be willing to help that day would you please reach out to me or Marie and let us know.  It’s good we can serve one another.

Grace to you,
Pastor Jay
